Jorge Afonso Alves

PhD in Business Sciences, since 2012, is a full-time Assistant Professor at Department of Business and Social Sciences (since 2001), High School of Technology and Management (ESTiG), Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB). Since 2013, he has been a member of the Applied Management Research Unit (UNIAG). He is the author and co-author of several scientific publications, including works about children, youth households and nursing homes, debt and financial performance of the hotel companies, published in books, scientific journals and proceedings of scientific conferences with peer-reviews. Since 2012, he has been responsible for the Accounting Project Laboratory and for the development of the computer application SimEmp – Business Simulator. He integrated one of the finalist team of EDP Innovation Contest in 2012 and 2013. In 2014, the responsible team for the “ENHANCED WT” Project obtaining the 1st place, in the wind category, in the ETRERA_2020 PRIZE. His main scientific areas of interest and research are: Financial Information Quality (Assessed using Econometric Models); Earnings Management; Fraud; Efficiency and Financial Performance of the Organizations; Accounting Teaching; Management and Inventory of State Assets.
